Outdoor Fun With Mr. Moore!

Mr. Moore visited our school to lead us in the Take Time Program.  He joined us during our morning assembly and during both kindergarten and first grade recesses.  The students and staff had a great time with Mr. Moore and the sailing adventure he took us on.  It was especially exciting looking for the "damsel in distress"....don't ask!

Old McDonald had a farm...
and so do we!!

Students in Mrs. Linscott's class were all smiles while turning their classroom into a barnyard!  While working on their farm theme, students learned all about farm life, planting, and each food group.  They even made a hen with words in the -en word family...you won't see that everyday!

From The Principal's Pen

Dear Families,

Flowers are blooming outside the door at MacDougal! Spring is in the air after our very long and snowy winter. Many fun activities have been planned for the months ahead, so be sure to check the list of coming events for times and places. As always, parents volunteers are appreciated.

Happy Spring!

Dropping Off Your Child In the Morning

webassets/bus.jpgWhen dropping off children in the morning, please be aware of the buses and pull up as far as you can. The buses must be able to pull directly in front of the door.

DO NOT allow your child to leave your vehicle if you are behind a bus. Bus drivers CANNOT see students behind or beside their bus.

THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!

We Celebrated Project ACES
(All Children Exercising Simultaneously)

ACES/IMG_1263.jpg

MacDougal staff and students had so much fun participating in Project ACES (all children exercising simultaneously).  Project ACES is a yearly event practiced by schools nation wide to help children learn the benefits of exercise and living a healthy lifestyle.  Children learn that exercising is fun!

Thanks to the efforts of our Physical Education Teacher, Jeffrey Sprague, students were able to enjoy eight different exercise games such as the bean toss, hula hoop (which is much harder than it looks by the way!), and an obstacle course, just to name a few.

Everyone had a great time and we could not have asked for a better day!!

Fun with Officer Phil

miscevents/DSC_0958.JPG

Wow! Who knew learning about safety could be so much fun!!  Officer Phil visited our school to teach us the ABC's of Safety:  Attitude, Buses & Bicycles, and Computers & Cars.  Officer Phil teaches by walking students through a variety of scenarios.  Students learn what to do when confronted by a stranger, what you should do if you come across a stray dog, or if it's OK to go off with a friend without asking permission first.  Students were able to learn important safety tips while being involved and having fun.
