Look What We're Studying...

Alphafriends!

We have begun to meet our Alphafriends.  An alphafriend is an alphabet character in our Houghton Mifflin Reading Series.  Our latest Alphafriend is:

  • C for Callie Cat (hard C)

We will be meeting P for Pippa pig this week.  Help your child recognize these letters in your home.  Also, work on letter and sound identification.

Classroom Rules

webassets/raisinghand.jpgOur Classroom has four simple rules.  Please reinforce these at home as well as in school.

  • Be Safe.
  • Be Kind.
  • Be Patient. (Wait a little bit)
  • Keep hands and feet to yourself.

Thank you for your help and cooperation.

Pajama Day/Night

Pajama Day/Night was a lot of fun.  The boys, girls and myself enjoyed wearing our pj's, slippers, and robes throughout our school routines.

We also had a surprise, our room magically turned to night after lunch.  We had a campfire (make believe with stones and red wooden blocks), we roasted smores (smore granola bars) over the campfire, and I read a campfire story by the light of a flashlight.

Then we searched for shooting stars, stars, planets, and the moon with out stargazers.  We had a wonderful time.

Everyday Math

The week of November 8th, I sent home a Math Workbook, Volume 1.  These activities reinforce math skills taught in the classroom.  Please take the time to do them with your child.  They usually take just a few minutes to do.

Thanks!

Homelinks

What are homelinks?

A homelink is basically homework you do with your child and then return to school the next day.  Periodically these papers will be coming home.  Please take the time, they usually take a few minutes to do.  Homelinks reinforce math skills taught in the EDM (Everyday Math) Program.
