Computer Lab

We're going hi-tech!

MacDougal School has a great computer lab featuring exciting programs, such as Lexia and Everyday Mathematics.  These games help students to acquire and improve basic reading and mathematical skills, taught by their classroom teacher, through fun games.

Students work independently by listening to verbal computer instructions and clicking on colorful images.  Additionally, each student is able to work at their own pace and own level.

Achievement reports for each student illustrate their progress, giving guidance to teachers and parents as well.

Thank you Mrs. Niswander
and Mrs. Stilwell!

A note of thanks should be offered to MacDougal School’s teacher Jeanne Niswander and district Technology Director, Susan Stillwell.  It was with their efforts, that MacDougal School received a $32,000 grant which was used to purchase the Lexia software.  Lexia is now being used by all K-2 and some 3-5 grade students throughout MSAD5!  The MacDougal/South School PTF also had a hand in bringing this program together by purchasing headsets for each computer.

Playing Everyday Math Games

Tux Paint

Tux Paints is a drawing program for children ages 3-12.  Kids are presented with a blank canvas and a variety of drawing and writing tools to help them be creative.  It is easy to use, has fun sound effects, and an encouraging mascot who helps guide the children.  Tux Paints is free and can be accessed from your home by downloading it from tuxpaint.org!  Many of the children have already done this!
