Lunch Arrangements When Tardy
Any student who is tardy must make arrangements for lunch prior to arriving at school.  Because hot lunches are ordered early in the morning it is imperative that you call before 8:30 a.m. to order your child's lunch.  If you cannot call before that time, please make plans for your child to bring a bagged lunch.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Cafeteria News

Students wishing to eat breakfast at school must arrive by 8:20 in order to have enough time to eat before class starts.

Parents may pay for breakfast, lunch and milk in advance by the week or the month. A check can be made out to MacDougal School. If you have any questions, please call Judy Lessard at 596-2005.

Hot Lunch Menu Change

Effective immediately, the school will no longer offer peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as an alternative to hot lunch, but will now offer cheese sandwiches.

If you have any questions, please contact School Nurse, Ilmi Carter.

Thank you!

New on the lunch scene...

In hopes of making more time for eating, students will no longer be given choices of what they want on their lunch tray...dip or no dip, peppers or no peppers, etc.

Everything listed for the day will be placed on the tray and kids should eat what they want.  They will still have a choice of Peanut Butter and Jelly or Tuna Sandwiches.

We want them to have enough time to eat Smile

Recess Before Lunch

webassets/lunchboxphoto.JPGResearch shows that students benefit by having recess before lunch.  They drink more milk, their behavior improves on the playground, in the cafeteria, and in the classroom.  And, they are generally quieter and more focused for learning when returning from lunch.

We have made this change at MacDougal School.  We are still in the "working out the kinks" stage.  The most challenging piece is removal of coats, hats, and mittens because of the amount of time it takes.  As soon as warmer and drier weather is here, students will enjoy the benefit of more recess time since they will not need to come in to take off their winter clothing prior to lunch.

Hooks for the Hall - Problem Solved!

Kip Yattaw, a member of our district's maintenance staff, recently completed our coat hooks and mounted them on our hallway wall!! The reason we needed hooks was to help with our adoption of "recess before lunch". Students will no longer need to go to classrooms after lunch to "drop off" coats and hats. This will cut down on the mud and snow that is tracked in during the winter and spring months and will help give students more time to eat lunch! Yeah!!! Thank you Mr. Yattaw!
